What? Shouldn’t that be just the opposite? All our lives we’ve been told to take in the positive and breathe out the negative, so how can this be? Like any theory, there are a million ways to look at this. Personally, I see my role in society as one of a positive force. If I’m continually exhaling negativity, I feel like it will surround me and smother me in a big cloud of yuck. Let me explain why I feel that society has things all backwards in this respect.
I think of myself as a kind of negativity filter.
My goal is to take all the negative issues of the world, turn them into good and instead of exuding negativity to rid myself of them, I exude positivity to enact change. That helps everyone, not just myself. No, I’m not crazy. Nor do I view myself as some kind of super hero. Anyone can do this. The problem is, nobody sees it that way because it’s the exact opposite of what we’ve been taught.
Where did this backwards theory originate?
When I was a little girl, my Mom taught me to wake up every morning with a happy thought to start the day. This one thing has made a huge difference in my outlook on life. Why? Well, because, instead of blowing off steam and negativity, I surround myself with a big ball of happiness. It’s contagious, you know. I don’t think we should be taking in all the happiness for ourselves. Instead, I think we should be turning the bad into good and sending rainbows out into the world instead of exhaling the bad stuff all over each other.
How can this miracle be accomplished?
It’s simple. It’s all about educating yourself. It’s all about refusing to conform to the negativity around you. Rather than hiding in peaceful ignorance, we need to learn to be aware of the bad, create solutions and send those solutions out into the world where they can do some good. Exhaling negativity does you no good. Exhaling positive action, however, does everyone good.
Won’t all that negativity build up inside?
Absolutely not. The positive, informed actions that we take convert the negativity into something quite positive. Our positivity and enthusiasm then grows to such volume that it surrounds us and anyone near enough to us to be impacted. The negativity no longer exists. It doesn’t need to be exhaled, or swept under the rug because it’s been dealt with.
So, there it is.
See the negative things in life for what they are, which is opportunities for positive action. Deal with them and they will vanish. Ignore them and they will expand and be exhaled into the world to cause pain to everyone we come into contact with. Take your positive thoughts and actions and set them free upon the world where they will help everyone around you and form a chain of positivity. Don’t go blowing your negativity out into the world. There’s enough out there already.
