Ah, brunch. That perfect marriage of breakfast and lunch. If you’re looking for a place in Taipei to get your brunch fix, you definitely need to check out these establishments.
N.Y. Bagels Café
As the name suggests, N.Y. Bagel offers bagels and cream cheese. They also offer brunch sets with options like eggs benedict, corned beef, bacon, sausage, and ham. If you’re feeling more of a lunch vibe, choose from pasta dishes, burgers, or sandwiches. The best part is that the breakfast dishes are available all day, even at the 24-hour location. There are seven N.Y. Bagels in Taipei, their locations and opening hours are listed on their website.
M One CAFÉ
Don’t be fooled by the exterior. M One CAFÉ shares a name and address with the M One SPA, so it’s décor has more of a chic spa feel to it than a cozy brunch vibe. When it comes to food though, they don’t kid around. They have a wide assortment of omelets that even come with French toast or pancakes, items that can be hard to find in Taipei. The thing that impressed me the most was the sheer size of the portions. The omelets are huge and come with a large side of hash browns and fruit, and the aforementioned French toast or pancakes. There is also an American style breakfast set and other brunch foods to choose from. Located about a 5-minute walk from Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station. Open 7:00 A.M. to midnight
Named after a city in Australia, Woolloomooloo has been and continues to be a very popular brunch spot in Taipei. The menu is quite extensive, but most people go for the brunch plate. For 280 NTD (New Taiwan Dollars), you get your choice style of eggs, a fried tomato, onions and mash, sausage, sour dough bread, and fresh-squeezed juice. Currently there are 2 locations, with the hours listed on their Facebook page.
Smith & Hsu
Despite being more tea than food oriented, this is actually my favorite of the bunch. Smith & Hsu has the best scones I’ve tried in Taipei. They’re light, fluffy, and melt in your mouth with a bit of their homemade lemon curd. They also have clotted cream for those who want a proper cream tea. Smith & Hsu also offers a variety of gourmet sandwiches. I’ve tried them all, and they’re all delicious. Currently there are 7 locations around the city, check with the specific location for business hours.
