Five generations of my family have enjoyed eating at Taco Bell. We have had some interesting situations to take place, which were related to this Mexican fast food restaurant. The last purchase my mother made, before cancer rendered her bed-fast, and eventually took her life, was Tacos from Taco bell for my youngest son.
About a year and a half later, my family went to Taco Bell after church. The next morning we found out that our pastor had died, during that same time. Four months later, my husband’s mother gave me money, and asked me to purchase my youngest son Taco Bell Tacos. She like my mother knew they were his favorite food.
My mother in law also said appreciated my son calling her and spending time with her. And like my mother, this was my mother in law”s last purchase on this earth. She was hospitalized and died a few weeks later, while we were, at Taco Bell, as had our pastor.
My grandmother thought there was some hidden meaning to all of this, and I told her yes, there was, it meant we spent too much time and money at Taco Bell. I did tell my baby boy that he should always remember that both his grandmothers loved him so much they made sure he always had his favorite food, even when they were near death.
During the Christmas season of 1999, Taco Bell sold small toy Chihuahua dogs, that spoke one of 3 slogans. The dogs said either “Yo quero Tacco Bell”, “Drop the Chalupa”, or crooned the first line to the song Chances are. My family had a total of six of these dogs. Two of them were working late into 2003 after my mother died.
Tacco Bell is now offering customers delicious new menu choices, that are sure to please. Between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. Tacco Bell has happy hour, where they have specials that are only available during this specific time. Currently, you can get 3 relatively new drinks, for half their regular price.
For a limited time Tacco Bell patrons, who visit during happy hour, may get a 16oz. Manzanita SOL, Moutain Dew Baha blast, or a Black cherry Mountain Dew Kick Start Freeze, for only $1.00. I recently had a black cherry freeze, and it was really delicious.
As of Thursday March 27th 2014, Tacco Bell now serves breakfast, from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. I was one of the fortunate customers to receive a coupon for a free breakfast during employee training on Monday March 24th. I ate a delicious combo which included a bacon egg and cheese wrap, cream filled cinnamon balls, and a large cup of coffee which was hot and tasty.
I was one of the first 10 customers when Taco Bell breakfast made its debut, and I received a 16 0 thermal coffee mug as a reward. This will be the largest most extensive change for Taco Bell, in its 50 year history. There is even a new slogan, “Live Mas,” which means live more. Time will tell, if their slogan and new breakfast menu is a winner with their customers.
