Everything is still and sincere; the only disruption is the hymn of nearby birds as they perform their synchronous chime and the spattering of residual rain hitting the foliage below. The atmosphere around you smells and feels so fresh and crisp as a delicate, wispy breeze makes its way over the small hairs on your body’s surface, making them stand erect for a short period. Small, glistening water beads lay upon the leaves, slowly rolling off onto the small creatures below as they make their way out from hiding, ready to continue their duties. It’s almost as if all the glumness has been washed away. The dark, plagued skies have already begun to renovate. The clouds are painted in cumbersome streaks amongst the baby blue sky, similar to the way cotton balls look when you slowly pull them apart. In between the fissures of the clouds, the sun’s rays intermittently shine through, causing a serene glistening effect on the flora and a halo appearance in the clouds above.
As you look towards the canal, you can see an impeccably arched rainbow crossing over to meet the damp meadow on the other side, the variation of hues shining so vibrantly against the sun’s light. The rainbow revitalizes and distracts you from the gloomier aspects of the sky while the darker, heftier clouds quickly begin to scatter. Soon after dissipating, larger sheets of white light begin to gleam through, creating a dimensional aura with the variety of lighting that is dispersed throughout the sky. With a better-lighted view, you can see the glistening droplets of water falling from various leaves into the canal, creating a rippling-effect upon impact. You can faintly hear them break away from the leaves’ clutch, and when they do, the tiny fish inches below jump up and break the water’s surface in their attempt to conquer them. The humidity is not the usual sticky, thick film that you normally encounter. After a summer shower, the air around you is cool and crisp; kind of like a sweet apple…or sweet serenity as I like to call it.
