I love a good soak in the tub with a luxurious handmade spa product. My favorites to create and use are moisturizing bath melts. The type I like making is sweet coconut vanilla bean ones because they help soften the skin, relieve pain in the body and help ease tension away. Best of all, the little pampering treats are earth friendly and I am all about environmentally friendly beauty products.
Nourishing Ingredients Needed
The skin pampering ingredients I use to make my dissolving spa treats are cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax pellets, vanilla beans and sandalwood. I purchase these ingredients at my local spa shop that carries them in bulk because they are cheaper to purchase this way. However, you can find them at herbal shops, craft stores and grocery stores as well.
The reason I use these ingredients is because they help soften the skin naturally and contain antioxidants and vitamins in them that help nourish the skin and keep it younger looking. In addition, they also help prevent stretch marks, reduce scaring and have the ability to even out the skin’s complexion.
In order to make the luxurious product properly you will need silicone mold trays in any shapes you desire, a large measuring cup and some small ones, a wire whisk and mini zip lock snack bags or silicone bags. These materials you can find at your local kitchen shop, hardware store and craft shop if you do not have them on hand.
Creating the Product
Next, I place one cup each of cocoa butter and shea butter into the large glass-measuring cup. Then, I place the measuring cup into the microwave and turn it on low heat. Next, I dissolve the ingredients down into a liquid slowly and after add in a half cup of coconut oil and a half cup of beeswax pellets and dissolves these ingredients into the cocoa butter and shea butter mixture. Sometimes I even need to pop the measuring cup full of ingredients back into the microwave to make sure they completely turn into a liquid. Then, I remove the large measuring cup from the appliance, slice open the vanilla beans, scrape the seeds into the mixture, and add in ten drops of sandalwood oil. Next, I combine the ingredients with a wire whisk and carefully pour the mixture into the silicone molds. After, I pop the molds into the refrigerator until the oily liquid turns into a solid form. Then, I pop the nicely molded skin care treats out of their molds and onto a cutting board. After, I take each one, place them into the bags, and store them away in the freezer until I am ready to use one in the tub for making a pampering soak for my skin and body.
Using the Handmade Product
Whenever I am ready to soak in the tubby, I drop one of these handmade skin-pampering treats into the bathwater and allow it to dissolve. As it dissolves, it releases a calming mellow aroma, which helps ease tension right away. Then, I get into the tub and soak away for as long as I can. The oils from the product help condition the skin and leave a lovely scent behind on it that is sensational. After the soak, I always rinse off with warm water and towel dry off. After, I apply sweet scented body butter to my skin to help add some hydration to it. However, you do not have to do this step if you do not want to. I personally like doing it because it leaves my skin baby soft.
If you are allergic to any of these ingredients used in this homemade soaking remedy, do not use it. However, I can say since I have been making and using this product, I have not had any problems at all. I hope those of you who make and use them experience the same pleasure as I do when I make and use them.
