Episode 4 starts out with a classic Survivor shake up: merging the three tribes of Beauty, Brains, and Brawn into a combination of only two.
The new tribes shook up the preexisting alliances. Aparri combined Alexis, Jeremiah, and Morgan from the Beauty tribe with Cass, Tasha, and Spencer from the Brains tribe. This left Sarah, the only Brawn member, as the odd one out. However, Sarah shook things up herself as she gave her new tribe a tour of their new home. Sarah mentioned that she had two bags of rice because in Episode 1 Trish turned down the hidden immunity idol clue in favor for an extra bag of rice. Morgan, who opted to search for the hidden immunity idol during Episode 1 at the Beauty tribe, was now caught in her lie and labeled as untrustworthy by her fellow Beauty tribe mates.
The new Solana tribe included Cliff, Lindsey, Tony, Trish and Woo from the Brawn tribe combined with Jefra and LJ from the Beauty tribe. Jefra and LJ knew they were on the wrong side of the numbers and started looking for cracks to put themselves in a better position. LJ discovered he and Trish were both from Massachusetts and quickly formed a bond over the coffee, donuts, and brownies the newly formed tribe won at reward.
However, at the immunity challenge, the strong mostly former Brawn tribe could not keep up their momentum and lost a nail bitter to the former Brains tribe after a complicated puzzle. Back at camp, Trish confided to LJ that she and Tony wanted Cliff voted out, and LJ and Jefra were more than happy to oblige. Cliff and Lindsey both sensed trouble from Trish, but felt she was not dangerous on her own. She needed a fourth vote to flip the game upside down, and all eyes fell to Tony.
At tribal, LJ saved his hidden immunity idol and was sweating the three-three tie between himself and Cliff. He didn’t let out that bent up breath of air until Jeff Probst called out Cliff’s name, the fifth person voted out of Survivor Cagayan.
