The game Super Mario 3D World is a great game the failing Wii U system needed. The game is nothing new to the Mario franchise, but is still one the Wii U best games so far. Mario 3D World does show that the Wii U does have potential to be a great console, but needs to have newer ideas to fully get the idea across the board.
1) Game Overview
The game instantly starts with Bowser running a muck and kidnapping several fairies and escaping into a mysterious pipe unknown to the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario, Luigi, the Princess, and Toad go through the pipe and the adventure starts. The gang then must go through each world and save each fairy, and then fight the Koopa King.
The worlds all seem unique with one being a desert, one being a snow world and so on, but if you are a veteran Mario player, the worlds will feel the same. The levels are greatly made and do not get very difficult into you start playing the star worlds. Lastly, each character has their own effects and abilities. (Toad being fastest, Princess and hover, ect.)
2) Lighting, Visuals, Camera, and Music
The Visuals are amazing! From a night sky filled with stars to a dark hallway filled with Boos you can tell Nintendo do I good job with the visuals and lighting! Now the camera is good but it could be even better and some times it goes into a weird angels for certain levels. And lastly, the music is truly phenomenal! In my opinion this game has one of Mario’s best soundtracks yet!
Gameplay is just like any Mario game: get power ups, stomp on the goombas, and get to the top of the flagpole. This game has added 3 green hidden stars and a stamp to find in each level and it is wanted to get to the top of the flag if you want to 100% the game. The gameplay for this 3D Mario games resembles the Galaxy games the most when it comes to moves and actions. (triple jump, back jump) The game never lagged more me and it is keep at a good steady pace.
4) Conclusion Overall,
this is one of the best Mario games to date and gives nintendo’s Wii U a chance to come back. Hopefully, they keep making Mario games with this formula for success.
I give this game a solid 9/10
