Chicago had many hit songs throughout the 1970’s. Their haunting melodies, sing along lyrics, and easy listening sound is fun and transcends the decades. Baby boomers who grew up listening to Casey Kasem’s top 40, were accustomed to Chicago at the top of the charts with hit after hit.
I was listening to a local oldies station this week, and during the middle of the day, they were playing Chicago hits. I found myself singing along, and it was as if it were only yesterday these songs were in the top 40, top 10 and even number one on the music charts. This is a list of 5 of my favorite Chicago songs that I believe will lift the mood, and brighten your summer.
1. Saturday in the park
2. Just You and me
3. You’re the inspiration
4. 25 to 6 to 4
5.Does anybody really know what time it is
In y opinion, Chicago has something in common with another 70’s group, the Ohio Players. Both bands horn sections almost sound just a little off key, but it work. Music by Chicago can be enjoyed by the entire family. There is no necessity to have and original version and a clean version.
This is music that is romantic and not pornographic. There is nothing to bleep out, and you can safely listen with the grandchildren in the car..
