Summer is just around the corner, and you are definitely going to need some new beauty essentials for your makeup bag. Summer is all about looking great without looking like you’re trying too hard to do so, so “casual chic” is the theme for this summer’s beauty checklist. All the essentials below can be worn on a night out, but can also be worn on an everyday basis.
Barbie pink lipstick. This color looks great on dark skin tones and it’s super fun to wear. It literally reminds you of childhood. You can go for a hot pink or tone it down to a medium pink. Skip the light pink–that’s for spring. Try experimenting with bold pinks and watch how it instantly brightens your face.
Arched eye brows. Speaking of brightening your face, nothing can awaken your face more than nicely arched eye brows. But for summer I want you to try a bolder arch than usual. There is actually a trend to wear your eyebrows thicker, but you can also give them a more intense, thinner arch than usual too (this is the route I chose to go for summer). A bold eye brow gives you an excuse to wear less eye makeup because the brows do all the talking, and all you’ll need to go with it is a few coats of mascara.
Orange nail polish. What a great way to dress up those toes! Two colors that are in right now is yellow orange (mostly for spring) and red orange (in for summer). This shade of orange is almost florescent, so it stands out in a major way. It looks great with all skin tones and has the ability to distract people from any other flaws you have on your feet…if you know what I mean.
Blushes-try them! When was the last time you wore blush? Blushes do serve a purpose, and that is it makes your skin glow. Sometimes our face looks a little dull, but a small bit of blush can brighten the skin. Women usually make the mistake of wearing too much blush. But remember that blush is only supposed to add a little color to your cheeks. It’s not supposed to be as bold as your lip color. Use in moderation.
Sexy fragrance. A great summer fragrance is a must. Fragrance is one of my favorite things about summer beauty. What you wear is up to you, but fragrances that capture the spirit of summer are the best. Fragrances that smell tropical (such as coconut or guava), citrus (orange or grapefruit), or like the ocean are all great picks. Choose a fragrance that personally reminds you of summer. A few of my favorites are Pink Friday by Nicki Minaj, Live Love Dream by Aeropostale, and Poppy Flower by Coach.
