I believe that one of the most important study habits is the preparation to study. They become hand in hand. Planning things out ahead of time will create studying much easier. Get a lot of sleep before you know you have to study. Don’t stay up to the wee hours of the morning and then only get 2-3 hours of sleep before class starts. Make sure you are well rested by the time your assignment is due or your test date arrives. Eat a good meal for breakfast. Decide what chapters you will be studying and break it down in days. For example: test date is Friday on chapters 1-8. Study chapters 1-3 on Tuesday, 4-6 on Wednesday and then chapters 6 and 7 and then give yourself a quick review on Thursday. This way you aren’t cramming all chapters into one night.
Here are some other tips for studying:
- Share information with others
- Read your notes out loud
- Take an occasional break
- Use highlighters
and remember that learning how to learn is an art!
