A morning workout often means more energy and better focus throughout the day, but that snooze button is just so tempting. Getting into the routine of working out in the morning is easier when you take steps to make yourself successful. Follow these morning workout tips to get moving right out of bed. Night Time Tricks
Your workout may be in the morning, but your success starts the night before. Arrange all of the clothing and gear needed for your workout the night before. Place at least one piece of gear near your bed so you see it when you wake up. Better yet, wear your workout clothes instead of pajamas so all you have to do is stumble out of bed and start your workout. Go to sleep 30 minutes to an hour earlier than normal to give yourself more sleep. Gradually move your bedtime earlier if you have difficulty falling asleep earlier than normal. You may find it easier to wake up the next morning when you’ve had that little extra bit of sleep.
Wake Up Wins
Set your alarm early enough to give yourself time to wake up before the workout and tap into your energy. Allow time to dress, eat and perform any other morning rituals that boost your energy before you start exercising.
Place your alarm clock across the room, forcing you to get out of your comfortable bed to shut it off. Place a lamp next to the alarm clock and turn it on, or open your curtains. The light is an extra boost to get you going in the morning.
Listen to a high-energy song as soon as you wake up. The song helps get you moving and motivated. I always find that music is a powerful motivator to get moving. Set your alarm clock to play one of your favorite workout songs if you need some help bursting out of bed.
Eat a high-carbohydrate meal the night before to build up your fuel levels for your early workout. Eat a small meal or snack when you wake up to energize your body for the workout. If you have at least an hour before your workout, eat a substantial, high-energy breakfast like toast with peanut butter, banana, energy bar, yogurt, oatmeal or fruit. If you’re going to exercise right away, choose something that is easy to digest like a small amount of yogurt, sports drink or meal replacement drink to energize you without causing stomach issues during the workout.
Feel the Burn
Those first few weeks of morning workouts are likely to be difficult, especially if you’re not a morning person. Over time, you might find you grow to love the morning exercise high.
