A stroke is when a blood vessel bursts or begins to bleed inside the brain thus usually causing damage to one side of the brain.
To most of the population and in most cases the definition given above for stroke would be a correct definition.
But a stroke can also happen in the eye where your blood vessels are located in the eye.
This is my account of having a stroke in my left eye that came without warning and damaged the sight of my left eye.
I believe the stroke in my eye was caused by a traumatic blunt force blow to my left eye causing a blood vessel to rupture and begin to bleed in the back of the pupil in my eye.
Not long after receiving the traumatic blunt force blow to my left eye I began noticing that the vision in my left eye was getting worse, so I set up a vision exam at the Premier Medical Group located at 6701 Airport Boulevard in Mobile Alabama.
To have my eyes examined for glasses.
On my first visit to the Premier Medical Group for my eye examination I seen Jeffery A. Morrow, OD to have my eyes examined for glasses.
After Doctor Morrow examined my eyes he told me he saw something in the back of my eye that need to be looked at by a eye surgeon.
Doctor Morrow referred me to Mark J. Douglas, MD who did some tests to look into the back of my eye where he found a blood vessel that had ruptured and began to bleed, causing my vision to worsen.
Doctor Douglas told me that I had experienced a stroke in my left eye and I need to undergo laser surgery to stop the bleeding and keep the left eye from suffering any further damage.
Before leaving the Premier Medical Group located at 6701 Airport Boulevard in Mobile Alabama Doctor Douglas made me a appointment to have laser surgery at the Premier Medical Group located at 2880 Dauphin Street in Mobile.
Dr Douglas performed the laser surgery on my left eye, and the procedure was over with within a hours time.
I was sent home with protective glasses and a patch over my left eye and was given an appointment for a follow up to see how the eye was healing and to check my vision.
After my follow up appointment Dr Douglas prescribed some eye drops for my left eye and something he said is supposed to help blood vessels form or grow.
So I went home and began putting the eye drops into my left eye while also taking the drug that was supposed to help blood vessels form or grow until my next appointment with Dr Douglas three months later.
At my next appointment with Dr Douglas three months later, the diagnosis for my left eye had not gotten any better.
So Dr Douglas decided to try another approach and changed the treatment of my left eye to see if that would make a improvement in my left eyesight.
Three months later and another appointment with Dr Douglas my left eye did not make any improvements, so again Dr Douglas tried something else, this went on for about a year of therapy for my left eye with little or no improvement of the vision in my left eye.
Since my last appointment with Dr Douglas I have made appointments with other optometrist in the Mobile Alabama area to get second and third opinions about my left eye and what could be done to correct my vision to 20/20, but none of the optometrist I have seen seems to think my eyesight will be able to be corrected to 20/20 without the use of glasses.
So I continue to wear glasses but my desire to see with 20/20 vision is still a vision to have 20/20 vision without glasses and I believe that Jesus will restore my sight.
Isaiah 53:5 states, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
