Boss battles are valuable in the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance, because they can potentially drop command points and top tier agent gear. In season 2, boss battles also have a chance of dropping augmented ISOs and are required to get mastery for a chapter. Chapter 5 of season 2 has a mix of hard and easy boss battles, all of which are required to get chapter mastery. The following guide will help you navigate the boss battles in season 2 chapter 5 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance.
Mission 1 – Kang / Crimson Dynamo – Required: Havok – Recommended: Spiral – This is by far the most difficult battle in this chapter. Crimson Dynamo is not particularly hard, but Kang is a nightmare. For starters, Kang grows in power every time he is attacked with an energy attack and Havok only has energy attacks. Because the entire wave with Kang is all tacticians, you are pretty much forced to have Havok do nothing but use items. Spiral is a life saver in this situation. Her ability to depower Kang will make this fight a lot easier. If you don’t have her, make sure to choose an infiltrator that doesn’t use energy attacks. Also, make sure your agent isn’t using energy attacks of any type, especially the Mayahuga. If you avoid energy, and both your agent and other hero is an infiltrator, the fight is manageable, but Havok’s presence makes it very frustrating.
Mission 2 – Taskmaster / Hydro-Man – Required: Ares – Recommended: Havok – If you own him, let Havok make up for his failure on the last mission in this boss battle. If you don’t own him, any blaster that deals fire or energy damage will do. Let your non-blasters take out the minions while your blaster focuses on Hydro-Man, in the first wave. The second wave is just Taskmaster. While he is a little annoying because he changes classes and automatically gains the class bonus of the class he changes to, in a three on one fight he simply isn’t much of a threat. Remember that single target attacks can activate War Never Changes and use them as often as possible.
Mission 3 – The Hood / Bullseye – Required: Squirrel Girl – Recommended: Tigra – This battle is actually easy enough that just about any infiltrator is good enough, but Tigra gets the nod because she deals bleeding damage. This will help you quickly get past the second wave with Bullseye and will be valuable in the other two waves as well. Squirrel Girl has a mercifully simple strategy. Attack with Furry Fury every round and use Nuts to This to get five stacks of Nutty on her. Flanked makes this fight a lot easier, especially if your other hero or agent is applying stacks of bleeding. Each wave is rather easy, which makes this a good battle for giving experience to lower level heroes.
Mission 4 – Green Goblin / Dragoness – Required: Emma Frost – Recommended: Classic Storm (Tactician) – If you don’t own this variation of Storm, Constrictor is an almost equally good choice. You want to use a hero that deals electricity damage and isn’t a blaster or a bruiser. This is a rather small list of potential choices. The fight itself is just Green Goblin and Dragoness. As usual, the Goblin gains extra actions each round, making him the priority target. Emma should use Psychic Tap on them whenever they are vulnerable to it and Mental Trauma in alternate rounds. At the point when you need to focus on Dragoness, hit her with an electricity attack to short out her wings. If you don’t have a useful hero with an electricity attacks, bring along Omega Sentinel or Black Widow. Both heroes can apply targeted to Dragoness, thus bypassing her wings.
Mission 5 – Ragnarok / Executioner – Required: Thor – Recommended: Ms. Marvel – This fight isn’t too hard, but it can be a little quirky. In the first wave against Executioner, you need to swap back and forth between using ranged and melee attacks against him. Thor has one of each, and conveniently Ms. Marvel does as well. Ms. Marvel is also a great choice because she can absorb energy attacks and she is a blaster, which is the strong class against Ragnarok. Once you reach his wave, fight him the same way you would fight Thor. Try to keep him debuffed if your agent has any debuffs to apply, and make sure to hit him with Photon Blast before Thor uses Hammer Throw on him.
Mission 6 – Hammer / Militant / Bowman / Tactical Force – Required: Hercules – Recommended: Omega Sentinel – Since you are a required to use Hercules, you want a hero that can buff allies. As a scrapper, Omega Sentinel is the best possible choice. During the first wave, Bowman and Tactical Force will only attack with ranged attacks, so Hercules can only possibly counter with Rock of Ages after using Gift of Battle. It is still worth using and just let Omega Sentinel, or whatever other buffing hero you are using, apply strengthened and fortified to Hercules. In the second wave, don’t use Gift of Battle until Hammer falls, which probably won’t happen until the end of the fight. If Hercules is forced to attack Hammer, use Pankration Pummel. He should have Blessing of Olympus by the second wave, which means this fight should be pretty much a walk in the park at that point.
