Boss battles are valuable in the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance, because they can potentially drop command points and top tier agent gear. As of chapter 8, extra heroes aren’t enough to make battles easier. You need agent equipment with the right debuffs and alternate uniforms for your heroes. Without these options, battles will force you to spend lots of single use items to succeed or to be severely overleveled. The following guide will help you navigate the boss battles in season 1 chapter 8 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance.
Mission 1 – Selene Sentinel / MODOK – Required: Hulk – Recommended: Hawkeye – The first wave of this battle features MODOK, who you want to pulverize as quickly as possible. Have Hawkeye focus attacks on him while Hulk or the agent removes the infiltrator minion. The second wave has one very simple trick: Do not use any area attacks at all. You need to focus on a single Sentinel, defeat it and then move to the next. Start with the Eos Sentinel and after it is defeated, switch to the Selene Sentinel. If you have an agent weapon that applies off-balance, use it on the Helios Sentinel to cancel the counterattack if gained. If not, just use items and recharge until that ability goes away and finish the fight. Be very careful during the first wave to not attack if a hero is affected by mental anguish. You will lose that hero if you do.
Mission 2 – Tesla Nimrod / X-Ray – Required: Hawkeye – Recommended: Magik or Shatterstar – Hawkeye is pretty lethal against X-Ray, but if you have Magik, bring her along to deal with him once he becomes phased. Otherwise you will be forced to wait out while he is phased. The second half of the battle can be brutal. You want to take out the two other Nimrod, other than Tesla, first. But despite this, you also want to remove the Induction Shield on him any time it is applied. If you have Shatterstar, you can use shieldbreaker on Tesla Nimrod and simplify that process. Try to avoid bringing any energy attacks and if you do bring them, don’t use them. They are a liability in both waves of this boss battle.
Mission 3 – M-Series Sigma Mk IV / Juggernaut – Required: Wolverine – Recommended: Havok – Wolverine is a major liability in this boss battle. Two of the enemies in it are immune to bleeding and two of the enemies are bruisers. Have him attack the only blaster for most of the fight, though you might want to attack Juggernaut with Adamantium Claws just to add bleeding to him. Any mutant blaster is a good choice for this battle, but Havok has the added benefit of applying pressure points. The more debuffs the better. With Havok using Plasma Spheres every round, focus your attacks on the blaster. Once it is defeated, Wolverine is slightly useful against Juggernaut who can be stunned or affected by bleeding, but worthless against Sigma. It shouldn’t matter much though, because Havok should be near to defeating them both by that point in the battle.
Mission 4 – Omega Sentinel / Prime Sentinel – Required: War Machine – Recommended: Cyclops – The Prime Sentinels appear in a wave of three and use a huge variety of abilities. But, individually, none of them are particularly dangerous. The biggest threat from that wave is that they each choose a random class. Use Cyclops to negate that advantage or any other hero you have that can apply generalized. Don’t use any electric attacks against Omega Sentinel and you should be fine in the second wave. The easiest thing to do is conserve charged capacitors during the first wave, because the Prime Sentinels are rather easy and then unleash a big attack in the second wave with War Machine. Three on one is a rather easy fight.
Mission 5 – Viper / Elektra – Required: Spider-Woman – Recommended: Wolverine – In addition to Wolverine, you want to equip your agent as a blaster and equip either a stealthy or area attack weapon as part of your gear. This combination allows you to deal with the bruiser in each round while still tearing through the two villains. Elektra is slightly more dangerous than Viper, so have Wolverine tear into her. If you want to avoid a counterattack, use Feral Ambush. Spider-Woman should use Seduction Pheromones every round. This greatly increases the chance of Viper and Elektra attacking each other. Expect to get stunned at some point during the second wave, which means you need to make sure your health is high before going into it.
Mission Epic 5 – The Hood / Crimson Cowl / Hydro-Man / Madame Masque / Constrictor / Grey Gargoyle / Jack O’ Lantern – Required: Spider-Woman – Recommended: Angel – Every single class is present in this three wave fight and The Hood appears in every wave. Spider-Woman can deal with him using nothing other than Brawl. The damage on that attack is quite high, especially against infiltrators. In the latter two rounds, the final one especially, switch to Seduction Pheromones and watch the villains attack each other. Angel is a really good support option because he has a chance to generalize, he can heal, and he can buff. As for your agent, the most devastating villains are Grey Gargoyle and Jack, but tactician is just too big a liability in this battle. Dress as a bruiser in order to take him out quickly. There is no easy strategy except to play very defensively and use items liberally.
Mission 6 – Destroyer / Enchantress / Executioner – Required: Thor – Recommended: Nico Minoru – By this chapter you have faced this combination of heroes countless times before. The same strategies still apply. Melee attacks and energy attacks are bad against Executioner. Nico is wonderful because her attacks are ranged magic and she will score critical hits against Destroyer. Enchantress has her usual charm abilities, which you pretty much have to suffer through. An alternate approach to this battle is equip the blaster alternate uniform for Thor if you have it and team up with Omega Sentinel. Her bruiser form uses a ranged gun attack and her scrapper form will obliterate Enchantress.
