How to turn your massage experience into alternative health care verses being just another retail prescribed drug.
And it’s happening sorry to say, massage therapy has become a hot commodity nowadays and that unfortunately could lead to not only its downfall as being alternative care but also to the depression of any real longer lasting beneficial healing results.
Massage therapy has become a product for the consumer to purchase. A product that comes in different varieties from swedish to deep tissue, hot stone, shiatsu and more. The problem is it is the consumer making their own retail choice with a retail frame of mind instead of consulting their professional health care massage therapist with a healthcare frame of mind.
And that’s where the boat is completely missed and secondary issues come into play like the right for the consumer to leave their cell phone on tucked underneath their arm as they are receiving a massage. Or the right of a consumer to complain when something doesn’t feel just as they want it to feel, much like returning an item purchased in a retail store and then realizing it wasn’t what you had in mind in the first place, and can I get another one cheaper?
Then there is the other side of the coin where the massage therapist can be thinking in quick terms of marketing for clients as income rather than the longer term security found in health care.
There is no healing in a temporary fix.
There is no benefit in drinking down a large glass of water after a massage much like ingesting a prescription drug without ever learning or taking responsibility in what may not be so pleasurable and in understanding how to prolong your own good health. You certainly wouldn’t go to see your doctor and tell him how you would like to receive your treatment would you?
Much like obtaining a driver license, maintaining good health is a privilege and not a right. It takes responsibility and discipline to remain healthy and guess what? Your massage therapist has an education beyond your immediate wants that can be beneficial to you in remaining in good health.
And it may not necessarily be what you want to hear. And it may not necessarily feel just the way you want it to feel, much like the universe that doesn’t cater to our every whim there are challenges involved and lessons to be learned, and that’s where the real healing is.
Health care therapeutic massage can be an alternative to the convenience of prescription drugs but to reap such benefits first one must put themselves in a more sustainable state of mind.
