With St. Patrick’s Day fast approaching, planning needs to be supercharged to present an award winning party. With a little planning, you still have time to pull off a St. Patrick’s Day Bash without a hitch. The main ingredients for success revolve around decor, food/drink and entertainment. All of these items are easily available at your local department or party supply store.
Of course many go straight for green of everything. However since, the original color of St. Patrick was blue I would suggest mixing it up a bit. Try different colors in different rooms. The dining area could easily pull off blue décor with some green accents such as Shamrock garland, shamrock table confetti or even green lighting on blue accessories. The main party and dancing area could house the bulk of the green party hats, horns, and of course the Shamrock beads.
While many guests go straight for the beer, knowing how to present the best beverages could make or break the thrill of St. Patrick’s honor. Go straight for the boot, boots are legendary to drink out of as you tip it back, the key is not having the beer come crashing into your face. This could easily be incorporated as a fun drinking game. Another must have drinking/party favor is Shamrock jello shots. Shamrock jello shots can be made in small green or clear shot size containers. If you select clear make sure to use green jello to make green shots. Pair all this drinking with easy to eat Reuben sandwiches or the typical corn beef and cabbage specials. If you choose to make the typical corn beef and cabbage you may want to create the original meal of boiled bacon and potato’s as a side dish.
Lighting and entertainment are the most exciting parts of an enjoyable time. Lighting can consist of outside green spotlights directed at the house. Turning the inside of your home green should be reserved for the party/dancing area. I would recommend the mirror ball dangling in the middle of the room with small green accent lights to create a flashing ambiance around the dancing area. If you are looking to cut costs on entertainment, you may purchase pre-made Irish CDs that feature Celtic classics and have guests try traditional Gaelic moves. However, I doubt most guests would want to try the fancy footwork all through the night. Dance music can easily be downloaded and played through various MP3 style players and broadcast through your television or computer.
Enjoying your festive activities and guests doesn’t have to break the bank to make the night memorable. With the luck of the leprechaun, you night will be filled with golden memories.
