As the weather warms, we start getting anxious to open the windows and spring clean the house from top to bottom. Do you have a bottle of Dr. Bronner’s castile soap in the house? With this bottle of magic soap, you will need nothing else but a bucket and some warm water to cover most of your spring cleaning needs.
For extra scrubbing power, you will also need baking soda, tea tree oil, and vinegar — items you probably already have in the kitchen.
All-purpose spring cleaning with Dr. Bronner’s
In a spray bottle, combine a fourth cup Dr. Bronner’s magic soap with a quart of water. Add a couple drops tea tree oil, if desired, and shake to combine. Spray onto any hard surface in the home, and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Spring cleaning the kitchen with Dr. Bronner’s
Did you know that you can use this castile soap to hand wash your dishes? Mix a few drops of Dr. Bronners with a sink full of hot water, and hand wash your dishes as usual. Use the all-purpose spray (above) to wipe down counters and other surfaces in the kitchen. For difficult spots, sprinkle with baking soda and spray to dampen before scrubbing. Mop the floor using a half cup of soap mixed with three gallons warm water.
Spring cleaning the bathroom with Dr. Bronner’s
Use the all-purpose spray recipe above to wipe down the bathroom. For a scummy tub or dirty grout, sprinkle with baking soda and dampen with the spray before scrubbing. Clean the toilet using a pre-mixed solution of one part soap to four parts water and one fourth teaspoon tea tree oil. Sprinkle with baking soda, scrub, and let sit for ten minutes before flushing.
Spring cleaning the windows with Dr. Bronner’s
Get clean, streak-free windows and mirrors this spring: Mix a tablespoon of Dr. Bronner’s with a quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray onto the windows, wipe clean with a damp cloth, and follow up with a vinegar rinse (half distilled white vinegar, half water). Dry with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth.
