We all know that gorgeous pastel shades are fabulous for spring. Think Easter colors–light pink, soft yellow, lime green, sky blue, and lavender. This spring, we are going to put a twist on these pastel shades by adding a touch of gold glitter. You can try any shade, but lavender is a popular spring shade when it comes to beauty. Year after year, we experiment with lavender eye shadows, then it was lavender lips, now it’s lavender nails–but now with a twist.
You may have seen this look on L’oreal ads. Lavender nails with a touch of gold glitter or rhinestones reinvents the pastels, making it a bit more glam than usual. This look is great for a night out with the girls or with your new love interest (wink wink). You can also try this look with a deeper purple. It looks more daring and has a more urban/punk appeal.
A few rules to follow while wearing pastel nail colors is to make sure the color has a creamy, opaque finish. Colors that are sheer will not quite do the trick. You will have to add several coats in order to make the color “pop”. Then you will have to follow it up with a glitter topcoat. All of those coats of polish may make the ending result thick, clumpy, and it will most likely dry too slow. Pick shades that have a great color pay off so you won’t have this problem. Before adding the second coat of color or the finishing coat of glitter, make sure the previous coat is mostly to completely dry.
