Perky nail art completes an ensemble, doesn’t it? You don’t have to be a fingernail pro to master the speckled egg style. You can wear traditional pastels or go for base nail colors that are a bit brighter. By adding bright white or metallic dots to the top of the nails, you’ll get the speckled look you’re after. This nail style is the perfect look for busy hands that must hide eggs, serve a spring brunch or just hold someone’s hands. You don’t need a bunch of fancy tools to achieve this fingernail style.
First, gather your supplies. You need five pastel polishes. There’s nothing wrong with some traditional hues of green, pink, yellow, blue or and purple. For the speckles, you need white or some type of metallic color. You need a disposable plastic plate and toothpicks too. Ready? For the most egg-like fingernails, choose rounded nails. Use a nail file to get the rounded nail edge. Always start from the outside of the nail and work to the center to avoid breakage.
Apply one base paint color to each nail. I’d say, paint both the pointer fingers pink, the pinkies yellow and so on. I like using the different colors on each nail. Allow the nails plenty of time to dry in between coats. If you paint on thick layers or clumps, the polish can lump and look uneven.
Pour a tiny amount of the accent nail polish on to the disposable plate. Dip the tip of the toothpick in the polish and touch the toothpick to the nails. Make several dots on each nail but be careful not to smear them.
Allow the dots to dry and then finish with a fast drying top coat.
That’s it! It’s so a perky and pretty look that is wonderful for toenails too.
