Does the birthday girl love a good pedicure of facial? Pamper her and her friends with a spa-themed birthday party. There are plenty of spa activities you can do at home to create a memorable birthday party.
Let the guests know that they’re in for a day of pampering with the invitations. An eye mask does the trick. Get an inexpensive eye mask for each invitations. Write the party info with a fabric marker on the mask. If you don’t want to buy actual eye masks, cut them out of paper and use a marker to write the information.
Another idea is to attach a tag with the party information to a little spa gift for each guest. Ideas include a little bottle of lotion, a nail file or sample of a facial mask. The kids get a little preview of what they’ll do at the party along with the invitation.
You don’t have to go all out with the decorations, but a few decorations can set the stage for a relaxing spa experience. Blues and greens are usually considered relaxing colors that work well for the spa theme. Use them on the tablecloths, balloons and other decorations. You can also set up some candles to create the spa feeling. If you don’t want to use real candles, try battery-operated tea lights in candle holders. You still get the candle feeling without the danger of real flames around young kids. Fresh flowers in vases also create the spa like feeling.
The spa treatments serve as the main activity during the spa party. But you can set up a few crafts for the girls to do before the treatments start. One option is to let each guest decorate a pair of cheap flip flops as her spa shoes. Let her put on ribbons, sequins and gemstones. Another option is to let each girl decorate an eye mask to wear later while relaxing.
For the actual treatments, setting up stations is a way to keep the activities organized. If you have a small group, you can have the girls do the treatments together. For a larger group, you might have a few girls at each station and let them rotate through. Have an adult at each station to help with the treatment. Older girls might want to do the treatments themselves, but it’s still a good idea to have some adults on hand to help out if necessary.
The specific treatments you do depend on the age of the girls and the preference of the birthday girl. A station for pedicures and manicures is a natural option. Get some foot scrub for the pedicure station. Let each girl pick out a color of nail polish for the pedicures and manicures. A facial station is also an option. Set up this station near a bathroom or kitchen sink so the girls can wash it off. Cut up some cold cucumber slices that they can put over their eyes while the face mask rests.
