Of all of the male artists I’ve been following on YouTube these past few years, few of them have come close to maintaining the impassioned, soulful vocal stylings of (the aptly-named) Jeremy Passion, backed up by a mixture of keen musicality and an always-natural way of signing, sealing, and delivering a song, cover or not, to the best of his ability. His first release since 2011’s ’32’, “Suddenly” is the product of an inherent soul attaining a few more years’ of experience in the field he adores, featuring a folk/soul-driven arrangement and a more in-the-zone stylistic quality to it than any of Passion’s previous in-studio work.
It’s evident that the track’s subject matter is something Passion aims to always deliver with a ton of sincerity that shines through as the song’s center-piece; the track doesn’t ever have him going quite past halfway in terms of his true technical vocal prowess, but his buttery-smooth tone and heartfelt connection to the material more than make up for it. In terms of artistry, this is easily Passion’s most undertone-ridden track yet, and the upped production value of this latest work help accentuate the little nuances set here or there that really help in enhancing what the song can mean to a listener. In one of Passion’s most passionate performances yet, he connects with the listener like never before. It’s clear that he’s improved tremendously in terms of songwriting ability, and paired with that killer voice of his, it’s a pristine fact that he’ll be continuing to impress his dedicated audience- even moreover than in the past -and hopefully pick up a few extra lucky listeners along the way.
