Everybody loves summer. I know that I enjoy it more than any other season due to the warmness and sense of life surrounding the abundant summer season. I’ve spent days away from my home state of Minnesota, but always seem to wander back up the country and rest my feet on my homeland in the summer months.
The Midwest summers are perhaps more exciting than any other due to the long wait in between the autumn, cold winters, and spring, and patrons are eager to embrace the nice weather. There are many fine complements to the summer, with music being one of the better fits.
The 2014 music calendar in the Twin Cities is again exciting, with several awesome shows happening during the warm months and early September. If you are looking for a good time, try to find a way to see some of these acts coming to town.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
This American folk band is comprised of about a dozen people on stage and they are indeed a fun group. I had the privilege of seeing them at a summer show in Minneapolis just last year, and they are again set to play Minneapolis in July of 2014.
One can hope for beautiful summer skies as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros play the Basilica Block Party on Friday, July 11th. This will be the 20th annual festival, and general admission one-day passes start at 50 USD if purchased before May 31.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Tour Schedule
Many names coming to the Twin Cities in the next handful of months made splashes in the headlines; names like Paul McCartney and Fleetwood Mac come to mind. And like the summer before it with Bob Dylan, 2014 will bring in an exciting hometown band to play in front of many screaming fans.
The Replacements haven’t played in Minnesota for 23 years. Indeed, their last show in their home state was on February 7,1991 in Minneapolis. That will all end when the iconic band hit the stage at Midway Stadium in St. Paul for a sold-out show on September 13, 2014. Tommy Stinson and Paul Westerberg are sure to be greeted kindly at what is sure to be a memorable late summer night.
