I vividly remember my nephew’s Birthday. A couple of weeks before the D-day, I started receiving his calls wherein he used to discuss various ideas for his party. Be it the Menu, the Venue, the Guest list, the Return gifts or the dress to be worn, he had every single detail chalked out in his brain. And it made me think… Is it worth spending ounces just for a couple of hours??? No doubt convenience comes at a price, but what is more important… to have an extravagant, lavish evening or an evening full of warm and fun memories???
Well, if like me you prefer to have a memorable party that will live even when the gifts and toys have faded away, then continue reading my tips to host a budget friendly party for Young boys.
Start by Involving the Birthday Boy in the arrangements. Instead of giving your son a ready-made platter that he asked for, customize his demands. Give him other options and make it a fun process for him. Organize a simple home party and give it a personal touch with your love.
Cheerful and Colorful Invites – Don’t invest in readymade Birthday invites. You and your kiddo can spend some quality time together while making invitations out of colored drawing sheets. One of you can draw on one side and the other can write the invite on the sheets flip side.
Decorations – Young lads are more interested in spending time amongst themselves, so mark my words when I say that they won’t even care about the decorations. But you cannot give it a miss altogether. So just decorate the room with different colored balloons and ribbons and cover one wall with your son’s photographs in the form of a collage. But make sure you don’t put anything embarrassing in there.
Home made Cake – The aroma of a freshly baked cake is enough to make anyone’s mouth water. Therefore instead of spending on a market cake, bake one yourself and decorate it with colorful gems.
Age-old Fun games – Try organizing musical chair game that you used to play in your childhood and believe me even kids today are going to love it. Or you can ask your son’s friends to blow a couple of balloons each and scatter them on the floor. Next you can ask them to burst the balloons by sitting on them without touching them with their hands. Set a time frame and the one with maximum bursts wins the game.
Return Gifts– Plan your guest list in advance and get personalized return gifs made from your local photographer. Photos on mugs and tiles go well with guys and you are sure to get a good deal with bulk order.
Most importantly, think the party to be fun and not a burden. My favorite mantra is – Birthday Party is a must; But the Budget should not go bust. :)
