By living in the 21st century, smarthomes or tech savvy households are definitely in. But, is yours savvy enough?
If you constantly keep yourself updated about the bigger and much better tech finds to have in your hands, you should consider amping up the tech level in your household too.
Connection – It cannot be denied that a household’s connection to the world out there is one of the big qualifiers of a tech savvy residence. ISPs have gone past the dial-up phase and have come up in those brand new and faster broadband technologies such as fibre, wireless and ADSL.
As we visit a friend’s house, the standard mode of greeting is not always ‘Good morning!’ or ‘Good evening!’. Rather, ‘what’s your Wi-Fi’s password?’ constantly assuming that there is a router to connect to.
Lights – Lights are non-negotiables in any home. However, that does not mean we have to be forever tied to the on and off switch we need to operate manually ourselves.
Have an automated-lighting system for your household. There are a lot of automated home lighting systems that you can fit in using your home’s existing electrical wiring. You can always dim your lights when you want to read a book or simply when you wish to give your living room a relaxed vibe. There are also automated home lighting systems you get that has a feature that memorises your lighting use patterns; which is impressive. If you are away, then it can replay these patterns and create the impression that someone is inside your household.
Security – More than the aesthetics, a household is more tech savvy when it has advanced security controls. After all, if your household is filled with all sorts of high-tech stuff, you must have a way to contain them safe and quiet inside your premises.
Most modern home security systems nowadays allow you to get fully in control by means of your television, smart phone and your broadband connection. Aside from proofing your home against thiefs and letting you know how your premises look like at night, there are better home security system that can offer you a direct line to emergency personnel and let you stay on guard against other safety risks such as fire or flooding.
With automation that comes with having a tech savvy home or a smarthome, you get to be more in control of your environment and even lower your energy consumption along the process.
