The garden, balanced like a labyrinth
With potted roses at the corners
Hedges clipped square, perfectly flat
And in the center, a fountain spraying
In a playful sprinkle to urge the greenery along.
I, in meditation, follow the pathways
Mindful, focused, not in a journey this time
But taking slow steps along the cobblestones
Emptying all worries, all thoughts,
Thinking only of the serenity of the moment
And the goodness of the Universe.
Turning a sharp corner, I pause to ponder
My place in the scheme of things
And I find I am very, very small.
