After you have received their phone number, the next thing to do is make contact. Whether you call or text them, you want to be sure to use words that will generate an easy going, but engaging response. With that, here is a six step conversation pattern you can use when making the initial call or text to your prospective sweetheart.
When you call or text, first, let them know that it is you. It is possible that they may have given their number out to more than just yourself. Or, they may not have saved your number in their phone.
If you call, say who you are in the first sentence immediately followed by the day’s greeting (good morning, good afternoon, etc.). If they remember you; great. If not, try reminding them of how you two met. If they still do not remember you, close the conversation nicely. It may be their way of saying they are uninterested.
If you text, once again, say who you are in the first sentence, immediately followed by the day’s greeting in the next sentence. Then, allow them time to respond back.
At most, a day and a half should be a sufficient waiting time. Some people check their text messages less often than others. Or, they may not be paying for text messaging services on their wireless plan.
If you do not hear back from them after this time period, it is up to you to decide if you want to send another text message. However, the best move would be to give them a call.
How Was Your Day
If you happen to get a positive response, be sure to ask them how their day has been. Even if it is early in the morning when you call, you can ask how their previous day or night was. This is a good way to ease into a conversation and find something to talk about.
Thinking About Them
In the midst of your conversation, let them know that you have been thinking about them. Even if you only thought about them for one second, you had to be thinking about them in order to call them. This will make them feel special and they may possibly warm up and open up to you quicker.
Next, try asking them what their plans may be for the day or weekend. This is a good way to see if they will be busy before trying to plan a date with them.
Set Up a Date
If they happen to have an open space in their plans, try setting up a date with them. When I first called my wife, I was able to land a date on the next day. Obviously, the rest is history.
Call or Text Me
Whether you set up the date or not, if you feel that the conversation went well, give them the freedom to contact you. Let them know when you are available to talk. You can even go further and add them as a friend or associate on one of your social networking pages if you have one. If all goes well, you may soon find yourself in a relationship.
