Are you in an emotional rut and finding it difficult to be happy about anything? Maybe you just need a few reminders to let you know that life really isn’t that bad. If so, here are a few simple ways to help boost your mood and make you realize that you really are in charge of your own happiness. Enjoy!
Post positive notes on your bathroom mirror. Wipe that smile “on” your face each morning by reminding yourself to do so. Find some positive, strength-building quotes, write them down, and tape them on them on your mirror. No matter how ridiculous or corny you may think they are, reading them each morning will add positive reinforcement to your being, and may slowly but surely create an optimistic mindset for yourself whether you like it or not.
Frame pictures of some of the happiest moments in your life, and place them around your house. Seeing actual photos of times when you were absolutely happy will remind yourself that you are capable and deserving of more moments like those. Weirdly enough, actually seeing yourself laugh, and smile, can make yourself laugh and smile again. So frame those moments and display them around your home so you can make many more just like them.
Get out of your house to get out of your head. Sometimes staying indoors or trapped in your home can get you stuck in your head. One of the best ways to get out of your head is to get out of your house. Taking a simple walk around your block or around the corner, can clear your mind and help you focus on other things happening around you. Just remember to stop thinking about your stresses while on your walk, and literally take time to smell the roses.
Watch a funny, hopeful, or inspirational show. One of the best ways to cheer up is to laugh. Laughing really is the best medicine. So find a comedy or funny television show and zone out for a little bit, and let it entertain you. The more you laugh, the better. So make sure the show you pick is a funny one!
And lastly, call your mom, family member, or best friend. Talking about how you’re feeling with people that you really trust is one of the best ways to get out of a bad mood, and sometimes realize that you aren’t as sad as you thought you were. Sharing your feelings with the closest people in your life, is also asking for any sort of love or care you may be in need of, so don’t feel bad to do so. That’s what your friends and family are for.
Try these simple ways to cheer yourself up, and hopefully you’ll realize that life really isn’t that bad after all. Good luck, and be happy!!!
