Seguin, Texas Fourth of July Annual Celebration
Seguin, Texas is well known for its annual local Fourth of July Celebrations. For many years it has started the Fourth with its Flag Raising Ceremony. This is followed by its Fourth of July Parade which has grown to more than a hundred entries over the years. Next comes the Mayor’s Luncheon at the Coliseum. Then that evening everyone goes to Max Starche Park for the wonderful fireworks display. There will even be a Freedom Fiesta on July 3rd featuring a kiddie parade, games, food, and live music.
On Thursday, July 3rd, at Central Park from 6:30 to midnight they will be having Freedom Fiesta. Freedom Fiesta features a kiddie parade, games, food, and live music from Clint Taft and the Buck Wild Band. It is free to the public. KWED Radio and the Seguin Daily News are sponsoring it. It should be a night of fun for everyone. I know my little boy is especially looking forward to the kiddie parade.
The Flag Raising Ceremony
On July 4th at 9 a.m. Seguin will start its day of festivities with its annual Flag Raising Ceremony at Central Park. There will be music and speakers to help remind everyone why we really celebrate the day.
The Fourth of July Parade
Seguin’s Fourth of July Parade is an annual event and has grown to over a hundred entries and will kick off at 10 a.m. In the past more than 10,000 people have come to the parade. All kinds of people get in on the parade fun each year making it bigger and better each time. This year’s Grand Marshal is Mary Jo Langford. It is an all-time favorite of my family from the floats to the clowns.
The Mayor’s Luncheon
From 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. is Mayor Don Keil Annual Mayor’s Luncheon. It will be at the Coliseum; located at 960 S. Austin and will feature entertainment from the Alamo City Community Marching Band. The barbeque plates are just $7. We love barbeque and cannot wait to feast on it this year.
What Fourth of July Celebration would be complete without fireworks? Beginning at 9:30 p.m. at Max Starche Park Golf Course the fireworks display will kick off. We plan to go early and have a picnic while securing our spot on the lawn to watch the spectacular display provided by the City of Seguin Parks and Recreation, HEB, Caterpillar and Powerplant Texas Grill.
