There are times in your life where you meet people or chances that you let slip away, but when the chance comes around the corner again, you should hold onto it for your dear life. There are so many things in my life that has been like a second chance to rediscover people that I would have never thought would be a huge part of my life.
When I wast just starting out in my career path, I was given the chance at something big, but I screwed up the first time and was told I’d never get to do my dream job again. I was pretty heart-broken, but I didn’t give up. I always knew that I’d be given the chance again, but I didn’t think it would be so soon, about two weeks later. The second time around, I made sure to do better and now, I’ve been doing what I love for 8 years.
My Best Friend
We met about 8 years ago when we were co-workers in the same department. We worked with each other for about two years before getting transferred to different departments. Back then, we were only acquaintances who occasionally hung out through mutual friends. It wasn’t until two years ago that we got transferred to the same department again that we really had the chance to really hang out. Since then, our friendship has really taken off. We never knew that we had so much in common – our personalities, our preferences and even the way we laugh! And we both haven’t laughed as much as we have when we’re with each other.
I’ve been going on and off school for many many years now. Because of my work schedule, I didn’t have the chance to finish up my Master’s degree until this year. It would have taken me only a year to get it, but after the first semester I went away and didn’t come back until a year later because of work. Even though my professor chased after me to get back to school, I just couldn’t find the will to do it. Until one day I passed by a college that reminded me of my school days and found a renewed sense of determination to finish up. And turns out that it was easier than I thought!
I actually met the love of my life when I was in high school, but didn’t get the chance to really get to know him until 6 years later. When we met again, we were both surprised at how the other person has grown, in a good way that is. And let’s just say that fate worked it magic pretty quickly to get the happily-ever-after ending everyone dreams about.
The thing is, second chances don’t happen without a reason. When the chance comes up again, grab onto it and see what fate has in store for you.
