Alienware is a very well-known brand for their top-of-the-line technology and gaming performance PCs. I have been drooling over their hardware for many years now. Now that I have a job, I am going to save up to buy this laptop, and I set up a plan in order to do so.
The Alienware 18 Laptop has an 18.4-inch screen, optional dual GTX 780Ms graphics cards, an i7 processor and 16GB of memory. This makes up a very beastly machine capable of handling nearly every game and easily coping with any resource hungry programs. This laptop is around $2,999 and has really great reviews. I think it would be an amazing purchase for gaming.
When purchasing an expensive item, it is important to decide what kind of time-span you want to give yourself before making the purchase. I want to be able to buy it by the end of 2014, so my main plan is to save $250 of my wage every month, backtracking to January, so that by Christmas I will be opening my brand new Alienware laptop. As long as I stick to this plan exactly as I have written, I will have exactly $3,000 in my savings account when Christmas rolls around. I am always on the lookout for any special offers or deals on the Alienware 18, but judging by last year, the deals start around Christmas time so this is the perfect method to secure myself the laptop. Even if the price drops, I will just have some extra cash around to spend on some accessories. By going for the current price of the laptop, I am making sure that I can afford it.
Since saving reduces the amount of expendable income I have, I take some actions in order to save money. I walk to more places, which are close by in order to save money by using less fuel. I don’t get as much take-out, which is an indulgence of my love for pizza on a few nights of the week. I try to refrain from some luxury goods and go for the cheaper options at the store, such as the not as soft toilet paper and a cheaper brand of baked beans. Making my own meals with a weekly shop will also help me save money in the long run, especially with making my own pizza.
The worst bit for me is keeping levelheaded and waiting until the end of the year for this laptop. I will always keep an eye on the price to make sure the price doesn’t suddenly drop, because if it does, and I have that much money already saved, I will buy it there and then.
I hope this has been useful to aid you in saving up for something you have always wanted. Good luck!
