A night on the town eating at our favorite Japanese restaurant was not complete until we had our Sake and, in some cases, Sake Bombs. A Sake Bomb is nothing more than dropping you cup of Sake into your glass of beer.
Saki Sushi – Located at 20795 Amar Rd, Walnut, Ca 91788 (909) 594-5221
Feel free to call ahead and make a reservation. They do not deliver but take-out is available. Claimed to be children-friendly, feel free to bring them along. If you have a large group, they can accommodate that as well. The attire is casual, and the atmosphere is quiet. You won’t find WI-Fi, but you will find TV’s. Besides Sake, they off beer and wine. The Spicy Tuna Roll seems to be a much loved menu item,
Sake Roll – Located at 19010 Orangepath Street, Glendora, CA 91741
You may not find many reviews for this place but take it from me it is a wonder why there is not a long line of people waiting to get in this place. It seems that with each delicious roll that you eat it is soon followed by one that is even tastier. There is this particular roll created by Chef Allen and one of his customers named the Ninja, highly recommended you won’t want to leave this place without giving it a try.
Sake 2 Me Sushi – Located at 5660 Holt Blvd, Montclair, CA 91760 (909) 626-0113
While sipping on your Sake, you can enjoy the all-you-can-eat sushi menu. There are those that can eat a lot and there are those that can eat A LOT and this will cost you the same inexpensive price for your meal. Be prepared to wait in line because a place this good is always busy. Know for it’s Dragon roll other favorites include their crab fried wonton and taco sushi. If you decide to have a beer, you may find it a bit pricy at $8 a bottle.
Rawken Sushi – Located at 135 E 2nd St, Pomona, CA 91766 (909) 629-6800
This place is great, while you dine you can enjoy the live yes live DJ. Said to have a “chic” atmosphere and the cocktails were nothing short of perfection. Delicious hot food is served quickly to hungry patrons. One of my favorites is the miso soup second only to the amazing shitake skewers. Even true sushi snobs will tell you that this place is a diamond in the rough, a true gem and should be visited often.
There you have it, some of my favorite places for Sake as well as Sushi in and near my home town of La Verne, CA. If you in the area, stop by and give them a try.
