I love Cafés; most are away from the hustle and bustle of everyday craziness. You get your coffee or tea and just sit and enjoy your visit for a while. I am also very picky when it comes to food and where I spend my time and I have found these 5 little gems to fit the bill every time. Come on a café trip with me of the best in Sacramento.
Tower Café – 1518 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818 (916) 441-0222
Best to call for the hours they are open. We love the Tower as it’s called to locals, the best time to go is for breakfast or brunch and I love the French Toast mouth watering good. If you can’t make it for breakfast may I suggest the Crab Salad Sandwich amazingly good with large chunks of crab in every bite.
Café Rolle – 5357 H St, Sacramento, CA 95819 (916) 455-9140 Open Daily Lunch: Tue – Sat 11.00am-3.00pm Dinner Wed-Fri 5:30pm-7:30pm Closed Sat Night, Sunday and Monday .Awesome French food, in an amazing location Downtown close to all the shops. Everything about this little café is wonderful but the food is out of this world yummy. I have been here many times and I just love the ham and gruyere sandwich on homemade bread. The simple French decorations make this little café perfect.
Café Marika– 2011 J St, Ste A, Sacramento, CA 95814 (916) 442-0405
Open Daily- Lunch 11:00am-3:00 Dinner 5:00pm-9:00pm. This amazing little gem hidden right in the middle of town that if you don’t know about you will walk right by it. It is a mix of Hungarian/Czech/German cuisine and is just wonderful. The chicken is fall off the bone good and if you go during the dinner hours soup and salad are included with your meal. In my opinion this is a must try just look for the light blue awning that is weather worn.
Le Bonne Soupe Café– 920 8th Street, Sacramento, CA (916) 492-9506
Open Daily – Mon-Sun 1:00am-8:00pm. Everything is fresh grown and tastes simply delicious, they change the menu seasonally and that makes for some great flavors. I love to try soups at the restaurants when it is an option and the French Onion Soup was just perfect, the right amount of cheese and not greasy at all. I would defiantly recommend the soup and the brie, mushroom and prosciutto sandwich which was made fresh and warmed. Was just a great lunch with great food, will defiantly be back.
Café Dantorels– 2700 24th St, Sacramento, CA (916) 451-2200 Open Daily- Mon-Sun 7:00am-10:00pm. Love their summer BLT’s made with super fresh ingredients as well as the fruit plates have got to be the best in town, both are completely amazing and well worth the visit. Prices are great and the service is impeccable.
If you are in the mood for a great cup of joe and a light bite, you will be surprised and fulfilled with a visit to one of these cafes.
