In the game of world domination, there are many things that factor in to deciding who wins the game. The biggest factor is luck of the dice. Although, the largest factor one can control, is strategy. This review is going to encompass those few moments before the game when one enters the realm of deep thought. The following are the 4 general strategies that govern the movement of the game.
Perhaps the most common of the four, our first strategy is grabbing a steady source of armies for the duration of the game. During the placement of pieces, attempt to claim an entire region.
Asia (12 territories) = 7 armies
Europe ( 7 territories) = 5 armies
North America (9 territories) = 5 armies
Africa (6 territories) = 3 armies
South America (4 territories) = 2 armies
Australia (4 territories) = 2 armies
Attempting to gain Asia and it’s 12 territories at the beginning of the game is a very bold move. It is much easier to claim South America or Australia.
The second strategy that holds merit in the game is known as the “Big Brute” strategy. The name is derived from the way the player advances from the start. Though the starting number of territories are the same, following this method means that all available armies are placed on one territory, and the player advances slowly cutting down all in their path.
The third plan of attack, is actually a defense. Don’t bother attacking armies that give you a low set of odds. Fortification, in many instances is just as good as advancing. Let the other player spread themselves thin. By allowing that, your fortified borders will provide the means to swoop in and finish them off.
Lastly, don’t be stupid. Don’t try to throw the other players off by being sparatic or random. You might prove yourself to be predictable, but if you are proving to your opponents that you can win at this game; I don’t think you are going to have to worry about that too much.
By following one or more of these strategies, you will find that there is no risk, about solid strategy.
