When was the last time you paused just for a moment and counted your blessings? In your daily efforts to keep up, get ahead and stay ahead, how often do you genuinely feel thankfulness or joyfulness for the multitude of gifts that you already have in your lives?
People, in our lives, our ambitious lives, in our quests to better ourselves we must be cautious that we do not overlook the treasures that we already have. Treasures? Yes!
Each of us has abundant treasures. I know, it may not feel like it after just paying all of your bills, but you do! Each one of us has treasures that are beyond comprehension. The challenge is for us to recognize it so that we can tap into it so that we can accomplish what we are here to do.
So how do we discover our treasures? We start by first counting our blessings and not our faults. It starts when we take stock of the things we do have and not what we don’t have or want. Focus on the things that we know, the people in our lives, our families, our hobbies, your appreciation for whatever you love, for caring for others or maybe your concern for those that are less fortunate and your ability to see opportunities. Our lists of fortunes are endless, and these things.
Tonight I ask each of you to challenge yourselves, pause tonight, take a long and hard look at yourselves and your lives, and recognize your blessings, your treasures and how much you do have. I wonder how much richness and beauty you will discover that is in your life. Realize that none of these things requires power, money, or a title. They all come from what you have already done, your attitude, the way you have reacted to situations, the way you value others and more importantly, how you value life itself.
Each of you at this very second has the ability to do anything in life that you want to with your life. Each of you has control over your, thoughts, behavior’s and your actions every second of every day. Look deep within and connect to the treasures that lay hidden within each of you. It is there if you just take the time to look so do so with an attitude of joy and of thanksgiving.
This is how we grow in our lives, by continually transforming. However the changes that we go through in our lives may be unnoticeable, our skills, mental state and our ways of acting in our world, all of these things become more and more aligned with our goals in life.
When we are curious and open, when we appreciate feedback, of any kind, we value growth in our lives. As we grow, we are able to notice our imperfections yet we can forgive ourselves of them and move on in life.
As we grow and continue to discover our treasures in life, we seek to understand others and ourselves because we realize that in this understanding we are given choices and as we each travel our own roads through our days, we begin to realize what matters most to us in this life.
