Synopsis: The PLLs agree to participate in a charity bridal show so they can infiltrate the DiLaurentis home.
Review: We are getting close to the season finale and, because of that; I figured this episode would be more about showing off the PLLs in bridal attire than actually revealing anything. As it turns out, I was only partly right about that.
We did learn Jessica DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) does think Spencer (Troian Bellisario) attacked her daughter. Plus, there’s also evidence she knows Alison (Sasha Pieterse) is still alive (though I’m not sure if Ali knows that). I’m not convinced she’s “A.” But, I do think she knows the truth about what is happening and who is buried in Ali’s grave.
After watching this episode, I have three possible theories about who is wearing the mask in the season finale:
Paige McCullers (Lindsey Shaw) – Paige reminds me a bit of Mona (Janel Parrish) in the earlier seasons. She’s more of a secondary character but appears in just enough episodes to remind us of her existence and give us a glimpse of her back story. Plus, her relationship with Emily (Shay Mitchell) is very similar to Mona’s relationship to Hanna (Ashley Benson).
While it is plausible Paige was just trying to protect Emily when she gave the police that tip about Ali, it’s also possible she did it as a way of getting the police to flush Alison out so she could get to her first. And, let’s not forget, she witnessed the PLLs drive off and could have easily followed them.
Melissa Hastings (Torrey DeVitto) – We haven’t seen Melissa in a while, but that doesn’t mean she won’t pop up. We already know she didn’t like Alison, doesn’t really seem to like her sister all that much and is smart enough to frame a drug-addicted Spencer (it wouldn’t surprise me if she took the scissors to her own clothes and told her mom Spencer did it).
It’s also very possible that Jessica DiLaurentis saw Melissa attack Ali and mistook her for Spencer. The attack did occur at night.
Ella Montgomery (Holly Marie Combs) – Granted, I know this one is a bit of a long shot, especially since she’s been out of the country. However, I don’t think it is as farfetched as it appears. It’s very possible she knew of her husband’s affair with a student earlier than she let on and, suspecting Ali, attacked her after a couple of drinks.
Let’s not forget, Mrs. Grunwald (Meg Foster) sensed Aria (Lucy Hale) had been “touched” by Ali’s attacker. At the time, everyone pretty much assumed she meant Ezra (Ian Harding). But, now that he has been ruled out, that statement could easily have been in reference to her mother.
I’m also not convinced the timing of her return is a coincidence. There’s something planned for her.
Final Opinion: I watched this episode expecting it to be nothing more than the PLLs walking down a runway in wedding dresses. Since that wasn’t the case, I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait until next week.
