Product Description: Frozen fish sticks from the Singleton brand. I purchased box of these (roughly 44 fish sticks total) for a little over $3 yesterday morning at one of our local grocery stores.
Review: I had actually planned on making Hamburger Helper for dinner last night because it was one of the few nights we could just sit down and relax together as a family and I wanted something simple. However, while at the grocery store yesterday morning, I noticed the Singleton fish sticks were on sale. And, since my kids enjoy fish sticks as much as we do, I decided to make the purchase and make this product for dinner instead (I’m saving the Hamburger Helper for another night).
I have had other Singleton products before, including their battered fish portions, but had not tried the fish sticks (or, at very least, don’t remember trying them). As a result, I was a bit curious about the overall quality. As it turns out, they actually exceeded my expectations.
There were a couple things I liked about this brand of fish sticks. First, the oven-baked fish sticks ended up being crispy. Considering the last couple brands I’ve purchased ended up being very greasy and, because of that, soggy, I definitely appreciated this.
Also, I absolutely loved the flavor of these fish sticks. The breading had a decent taste to it (something that isn’t always the case with a product like this) and the fish itself seemed to be of OK quality, at least compared to some brands we’ve purchased. Every one of us ended up having seconds and there weren’t many leftover when we were done. And, when you consider how picky my daughters usually are, that is saying quite a lot.
Final Opinion: As I mentioned before, I found this brand on sale yesterday morning and, as a result of that, don’t know what the regular price would have been. However, I was very impressed with the overall quality of these fish sticks and, because of that, would consider purchasing this brand again, even if it meant spending a bit more money. If you have not had an opportunity to try this brand of fish sticks, I recommend picking up a box.
