Product Description: Pre-cooked ham steak from the Sherwood brand. I found a 1-pound steak at one of my local grocery stores for a little over $2 yesterday morning.
Review: I didn’t go to the grocery store with the intention of buying ham steak, or any other steak for that matter. However, as I was passing the meat section, I happened to see this product and, since I’m always looking for bargains on meat, decided I couldn’t pass it up. Plus, I didn’t have anything planned for dinner yet and figured it would be something a bit different, especially since we’ve had frozen pizza three days this week.
This was my first time purchasing a ham steak from this brand and, as a result, was a bit curious about what kind of quality I could expect. I like ham and ham steak. However, the last couple brands I purchased were very salty and I was honestly worried that would be the case with this pre-cooked variety. However, as it turns out, it was actually pretty decent.
There were a couple of things I liked about this product. First, it was easy to make. Since it was pre-cooked, all I had to do was put it in the skillet for a couple of minutes. It actually took me longer to make the side dishes.
In addition to that, it tasted fantastic. Like I said, I have a hard time finding ham products that aren’t too salty. This wasn’t salty at all and had a very pleasant flavor to it.
Another thing I found I liked about this product was how tender it was. It was falling apart as I took it out of the package and we were easily able to cut into it with a fork. I’ve had plenty of other ham steaks that I could barely cut with a knife so that was also appreciated.
Final Opinion: I had some doubts about this product when I purchased it. However, it turned out to be a pretty decent grocery buy. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something different to have for dinner and will definitely buy this again.
