Business Description: Pizzalley’s Pizzeria and Chianti Room Casual Dining in St. Augustine, Florida. My family and I visited this restaurant on June 26, 2014.
Review: When I visited historic St. Augustine with my family, we primarily planned on taking some photos and shop for souvenirs. We did not intend on buying lunch there. However, the heat was starting to get to my youngest daughter and, mostly as a way of giving her a chance to cool down a bit; we decided to eat at Pizzalley’s.
My primary reason for picking this particular establishment was the free sample we were given as we walked by it earlier in the day. The pizza was decent and the people seemed friendly so, because of that, and because it was on the way back to our car, the decision seemed to be a logical one.
We ended up dining inside their Chianti Room and thought the atmosphere was pretty impressive. It was a little cramped seating wise. However, there was some beautiful artwork on the walls and even the kids enjoyed the scenery.
Our daughters had pasta and my wife and I ordered a pizza. Both proved to be good choices. The girls ate everything in front of them (a rarity for them) and, while I can’t say it was the best pizza I have ever eaten, it was pretty good and we were able to take some of it home with us for dinner later that night. The best part about the food though was the price. Based on the prices I saw at other area restaurants, I was surprised to find our lunch didn’t cost me any more than I would normally spent at a restaurant in my hometown.
I also had no complaints about the service. Our food was delivered promptly (which, because we only had an hour until our parking meter expired, was appreciated) and, despite being somewhat busy, our server managed to stay on top of things while staying very friendly, something that made the experience even better.
Final Opinion: This was one of my favorite places in St. Augustine and I would definitely go back. If you are in the area and looking for lunch, I would recommend it.
