Product Description: Popcorn chicken from the Kwik Trip Kitchen Cravings brand. It comes in a container of 15 pieces and I was able to purchase it for 99 cents.
Review: The thing that first attracted me to this particular item was definitely the price. I didn’t have much for lunch today and, by mid-afternoon, I was starting to get hungry to the point I walked up to Kwik Trip. However, even though I wanted something to eat, I also had a limited amount of money I could spend. The fact this item cost me only about $1 after tax was a big plus, especially since, prior to seeing the popcorn chicken bites, I thought I would have to settle for some string cheese.
As far as taste goes, I really had no complaints. The popcorn chicken was a bit peppery. However, it wasn’t anything that my taste buds couldn’t handle and I got used to it after the first couple of bites. In fact, I actually preferred the peppery taste because it meant the popcorn chicken at least had some flavor to it. I can’t say that about some other brands I’ve purchased (including a couple restaurant brands).
I also was very impressed with how satisfying this snack was. I wasn’t sure if that was going to be the case because 15 pieces really doesn’t sound like (or look like) all that much. However, the popcorn chicken was surprisingly filling and, just as important, it stayed with me. Unlike some other snacks I’ve purchased (for considerably more money), I wasn’t hungry an hour later. That was something I definitely appreciated, especially since I ended up having dinner a bit later than normal.
Final Opinion: As I mentioned before, these are a bit peppery and, as a result of that, I don’t think it is a product I would purchase for my kids (something that crossed my mind when I first saw it). However, as long as you don’t mind a bit of pepper on your food, this is a product that is worth buying if you are looking for an affordable snack that will fill you up. I know it’s a product I will be looking for the next time I get hungry while at work.
