I don’t like to write reviews on celebrity fragrances because I personally think that most of them are low quality. I understand that some women (and men) may want to smell like their favorite celebrity, but celebrities have got to start making fragrances that smell less like bubblegum for me to take them more seriously.
I have great respect for celebrities that make decent, wearable fragrances. Britney Spears is one of them. Although all her fragrances are not quite my style, I still recognize that many of them are good quality fragrances and I respect her for that.
Most of us are familiar with her first and most popular scent, Curious, which has been my favorite perfume by Britney, until I smelled Radiance. First of all, I really think that Britney should experiment with more mature looking bottles. Her perfume bottles are very gaudy, and since she and many of her fans are no longer teenagers, she should really upgrade her fragrance bottles. We often judge a perfume by the bottle and the name before we even smell it, and I’m afraid that these bedazzled bottles are going to scare away a lot of people from a fragrance that is actually pretty solid.
Radiance smells a little like Believe by Britney Spears. It has that same fruity top note that smells like, yes, watermelon bubblegum. But what I love about Radiance is that it’s actually much more grown up than Believe. It’s description says that it has notes of berries, dewy petals, white flowers, amber, woods, and musk. I definitely can smell the berries in it. It smells a lot like strawberries. I also smell some white flowers–smells sort of like magnolias. I then smelled some warm creamy notes like vanilla or sandalwood. Mmmm…it smells really nice. I was genuinely impressed.
After it all dries into your skin, citrus notes emerge, and it starts to smell like Daisy by Marc Jacobs. I love Daisy! I love that Radiance has a youthful scent, yet it’s still grown up. Celebrity perfumes are always too “teenage girlish” for me, but this one is more mature, and I love it. I would definitely recommend this to women. You don’t have to be a Britney fan to appreciate this fragrance because it really is a great fragrance. Go Britney!
