Memorial Day weekend is the official kick-off to summer. It’s usually the first chance to light up the grill and invite friends over for an outdoor feast. Here are three top recipes to help ignite your Memorial Day festivities.
Creamy Salsa Dip
Creamy Salsa Dip is so easy to make and always the first empty bowl at the app table. All you need is an 8oz block of cream cheese, a cup of your favorite salsa, and tortilla chips. Soften your cream cheese to room temperature and mix it with one cup of salsa (there might still be some chunks visible in the dip, and that’s fine, too). Serve with tortilla chips (and margaritas if you see fit!).
For a twist on a traditional cheeseburger, try switching up the cheese flavors. One of my family favorites is Horseradish Cheddar from Cabot. Use this in place of regular cheese on your burger and serve with mayo instead of ketchup. It’s a unique and easy twist that always pleases the crowd.
Ice Cream Cone Cookies
Nutter Butter Ice Cream Cone Cookies take a bit of prep time but the finished product is worth the effort. You’ll need one package of Nutter Butter cookies, a container of vanilla frosting and colored sprinkles for decorating. Spread your Nutter Butters out on waxed paper. Remove the lid and foil seal from frosting and microwave entire container at 10 second intervals, stirring each time until frosting is thin enough for dipping, but not watery. Dip top half of each cookie and lay on waxed paper to dry. Add sprinkles (and a red M&M for a “cherry” if you wish). When cookies are dry, arrange on a dessert plate.
