A graduation party is a time of celebration for your child’s hard work. The party can be exciting as well as expensive. The party should begin with planning. Detailed plans will allow you to set a budget.
The Host Site
One of the biggest parts of planning is where to have the party. The host site should be one that is convenient as well as that fits your needs for the amount people attending. A lot of people rent a hall which can be helpful for larger events. A hall usually comes with chairs, tables and sometimes silverware; everything you need for entertaining. Or you can host the party at your house which is what a lot people do. The drawback of this option is the weather which may not be agreeable on the day of the party.
After determining the amount of people being invited to the event, you must decide on invitations. A lot of times you can buy invitations right through the school. These types of invitations are usually more expensive. The school’s logo is printed on the invitations which come with envelopes. For a less expensive alternative, you can pick up general invites at your local dollar store. The drawback with these types of invitations is you have to hand write all the invites.
The decorations will be dependent on the setting site. A hall can be more decorated than a backyard. Decorations can include balloons, crepe paper, large signs, and photo billboards of the graduate’s school career. Balloons can be ordered. Balloon bouquets are an inexpensive way to decorate tables. Many people like to have a guest book as a way to remember all who attended the event.
Food will be a major expense. A menu should be prepared. A lot of times, many family members and friends will be willing to bring a dish to pass if you ask. You will have to figure out if you want finger food. For instance, sandwiches and snacks can be served. Or if you prefer a larger meal can also be served depending on your budget. Also a special graduation cake should be prepared. Graduation cakes can be ordered but this should be done in advanced in order to make certain that the cake is ready for the special day.
Utensils and the Rest
Remember that serving food will require utensils. You can use your own utensils or purchase throw-away utensils. You will need to purchase paper plates, napkins, and cups which will be dependent on the amount of people being invited to the party.
