Now days with internet social media sites, like Pinterest, and Instagram, new parents are able to gather unique and cool ideas easier than ever. From how to announce your expecting, as well showing off your new bundle of joy, there are a million and one ideas. Lets go over the latest and greatest trends for new parents in 2014.
Announcing that your expecting never used to be so elaborate, this generation has really become creative. Taking a special photo and posting to your facebook or instagram is more popular than ever and it’s fun.
One of my favorites is of a couple opening a box and pink or blue balloons waft out of the box, announcing the gender of their baby. Another fun way to reveal the gender is to have a “gender reveal” party and the cake color or icing inside is pink or blue.
I love the idea of a “sip and see” party. Rather than the traditional baby shower, you wait till baby arrives and invite people to sip drinks and see baby. Doing this in tiers, for instance, Grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc…can come in the early part of the day for tea and finger sandwiches. The afternoon is for light snacks with those having youngsters that prefer to be back home by evening. Then the final group would be those you call it a night with, perhaps having a BBQ and drinks. Doing it this way keeps you from becoming overwhelmed with people and your able to enjoy your company. Your also able to open gifts in a more personal style.
Grandmother Showers are also big in 2014. This event is just like a baby shower accept it’s held for Grandma. This way the Grandparents have a set of everything for the new baby too. Grandparents have a much bigger role in caring for their Grandchildren these days, while Mom and Dad are working hard outside the home.
Mommy moons are becoming more and more popular. This is a short spa vacation or weekend a few weeks before baby arrives. Mom and a friend head out for some relaxation. This includes spa treatments, healthy dinners and a little shopping on the side. This gives the expectant Mom rest in preparation for the demanding job ahead. Some may include this on a “relaxation registry” for the new parents, which is sometimes in lou of a baby shower.
Self Installing Car Seats . This car seat installs itself, ridding new parents of the frustration and incorrect installation problems that often arise. As for new technology and products we are seeing these items show up on the market more and more frequently.
Mimo Baby Onsie is the latest in wearable technology (by entel). Installed with a microchip inside a small turtle. The microchip informs parents of their baby’s functions like, breathing rate, temperature, position, and activity level. Parents can also have the information displayed on a coffee cup, if the baby is hungry the onsie sends a signal to warm the bottle. This wireless product sends the information to your iphone or computer as well.
Baby Monitors that snap photos/videos/ texts to your phone. There is also a baby monitor for your vehicle, so that you can see your baby while driving. These are sold at Babies R Us for $200 (motorola mbp33 wireless/digital $179.97) (ibaby monitor $199) (Tiny Traveler Monitor)
Lastly we have Smart Pajamas. Yet another innovative and different twist on technology. These PJ’s read your little one a bedtime story.
