According to Genesis chapters 1-3, the Creator made Adam from the dust of the earth, and made him a helper, Eve from his side. As you move through the bible however, there was always trouble when men decided to try polygamy, and had more than one wife.
When Sarah could not conceive, she asked Abraham to “marry” her Egyptian slave girl Hagar, who bore Ishmael for Abraham.. When Sarah finally gave birth to her own son Isaac, she send Hagar and Ishmael away. In time, the descendants of these half brothers became enemies.
I have heard theologians say the problems in the middle east are because the Arab nation is the lineage of Ishmael, while the Jewish people are Isaac’s seed. These kindred countries are at war with each other because of Sarah giving her husband another “wife.”
Jacob fell in love with Rachel but was tricked into marrying her older sister Leah, first. The two women battled continually for his affection. One day Leah said she was hiring Jacob from Rachel with some mandrakes one of her son’s gave her.
In addition to Leah paying for her husband to be in her bed that night, Rachel and Leah each gave Jacob their maids to have children with. Jacob sired 12 sons between the 4 women, and these men became the heads of the 12 tribes of Israel.

David’s son Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. The foreign wives led Solomon away from the worship of the One true God. Isaac, was married to one woman,Rebekkah for the entirety of his life. They were so in love that they were seen making out in public, when based on a biblical timeline, their ages would have been around 80 and 60.
Different people have varied ideas regarding marriage, and a one man one woman marriage does not rule out trials and tribulations. If a couple however, can maintain eyes only for each other, like Isaac and Rebekkah, It will however prevent some of the issues that come along when one man has sister wives. And will surely eliminate all the drama, the biblical characters endured.
