We’ve all seen the pictures by now, people post these shots of what appears to be a bedroom under the sea on Facebook and immediately we fall in love and people like the picture then comment on how beautiful it is, life under the sea has been just as much a dream of humans as traveling into space. (mashable) The great unknown has always captivated our minds, taking us deep into places we’ve never been and other places we never thought existed, it’s what fuels scientific exploration of the seas, the Moon, and other planets, and what drives us to reach for those nearly unattainable goals. (chillhour) The fascination with space has caused billionaires to fund missions to the space station and eventually other planets, while a fascination with what’s under water has sent a millionaire on a mission to reach the absolute deepest point on Earth, if this doesn’t say how amazed we are by each of these destinations I don’t know what else could be said to convince you of their greatness. (csmonitor) We’re often driven by things we can’t see, it’s why we started the space race, it’s why we follow religion, and it’s why we’re so obsessed with SCUBA, it’s human nature to question the unknown, and aside from religion if there’s a way to examine it more deeply we just in head first. I’ve always been a bit of a science person, although I’ve never been too big on the whole science-fiction deal, that being said there was one thing in that genre that got my attention as a teen, that would be the Final Fantasy video game series. (wikipedia) The futuristic settings always amazed me, starting with the eighth installment of the game, I was addicted and I always wondered what it would be like to live in or at least visit places that looked like the environments shown in the game. (ign) While you never really got too much underwater during the game, outside of the deep sea research facility, I’ve imagined an underwater city based upon their “Gardens” many times, and seeing the picture of the proposed new Floating City I immediately went back to those images. (elitedaily) The thought has me excited for what could be on the way, especially upon learning that AT Design would be launching a version of it next year as a test, although it will be on a much smaller scale, I’m primed and ready to see where this leads. (iflscience) With the possible advances in space travel, and this next step in civilization, the future looks very intriguing and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
