Once a year, the Peeps line the shelves of supermarkets and candy shops, eager to make their Easter debut in some child’s basket — or some grown up’s shopping bag. These carefully crafted tufts of marshmallow can’t help but bring out the kid in everyone. If you’ve been searching for a theme for your Easter party, look no further. From the invitation to the actual shindig, Peeps are the perfect ingredient for fun and deliciousness.
The Peep Invitation
Sure, you could order some Peep-themed invitations but doing them yourself is so much fun. Use Bunny Peeps as stamps and card stock paper to make the invites. Stamp the bottom of each card with a paint-dipped stamp and allow it to dry. Dot on two eyes with a marker and hand write your invitation. Alternatively, you could use your computer and design invites with some Peep lookalike graphics. Use phrases like, “Peep, peep! Want a treat?”
What a fun treat to decorate with! Place a glass jar inside a larger glass jar. Tuck the marshmallow treats in between the jars. Another way to decorate with Peeps is to arrange several on a stick and display them a jar. Set the Peeps atop a decorated cupcake for a decoration/treat.
Sweet Peep Treats
Make edible birds’ nest with melted marshmallows (the plain kind) and Chow Mein noodles. Tuck peeps inside each nest. You could also dip the base of those chick Peeps in decadent chocolate and display them on a white platter. Press the candy into sprinkles before the chocolate sets. Of course, arranging these treats on plates is an excellent idea too! Why not arrange peeps and skewers next to a fondue pot of chocolate? Yummy goodness!
Games with Peeps
You’ve got a crowd coming over-don’t forget about the entertainment. Play a simple game of Peep Toss. Two couples pair up; one holds a small plastic pail on their head, the other tosses in the peeps. The team to get all their peeps in first is the winner.
Your Peep-themed party is sure to be a hit with all your friends and family!
