There’s good news for Android OS tablet owners who want to use the PayPal account app or the PayPal Here mobile payment processing app on their Android tablets. Currently the apps are both only currently supported on Android smartphones and the iPad tablet. But it is possible to put both apps onto your tablet and they work. The steps are fairly simple.
First, you will need to have the app you want to use installed on your Android smartphone. You will also need a file explorer that backs ups up to your memory. Using an app like File Expert is easy. Navigate to the apps button and search for the PayPal app you wish to back up. Long tap the file so a check mark appears. Then, click the three dotted button to bring up a send file option. It will give a list of quick apps to send the file. You will want to click share where a list of all your sharing apps will appear.
The file can be sent to your own email, sent to your tablet via Bluetooth or a cloud like Dropbox. Wherever you access the file, click on it. If using Dropbox, it will unpack and begin installing like any other app asking permissions.
The apps both install. Oddly, when PayPal Here is opened, it appears like it was created for a tablet. Instead of having the item on top and keypad on the bottom on a phone, the item and keypad are side by side. The card reader works fine and testing it with a $1.00 swiped transaction, it worked and seconds later the $0.97 cents was deposited into the PayPal account (minus the transaction fee).
The PayPal app also opened up and had no trouble accessing the PayPal account and worked as if it were on the phone. Transactions, balances, send and all other features were there.
Getting the apps onto an Android tablet is as easy as back up the app, send it somewhere accessible via the tablet and install! Hopefully PayPal will soon get this issue resolved so those who may have small businesses and prefer an Android tablet can use the app without having to go through these extra steps that shouldn’t really be necessary. In the meantime, this will help those wanting to use the apps on their device that isn’t supported by PayPal just yet.
