The next Avengers team up movie comes in 2015 with “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” There will be three new Avengers introduced in that movie, and possibly more on the way as well. Well, Paul Bettany went on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and talked a bit about his upcoming role as The Vision in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” While he didn’t reveal too much thanks to the confidentiality agreements, he did reveal that he will do more than just voice The Vision, as he did J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Iron Man movies.
With The Vision appearing in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” here is a look at the characters who will be joining the super team in the second outing, as well as possible other heroes that might make an appearance.
Since Paul Bettany is playing The Vision, it might be a clue as to how the character is created. In the comics, The Vision is an android constructed by the villain Ultron using the body of a World War II android hero known as The Human Torch (no relation to the Fantastic Four member) and the mind of Simon Williams, the Avengers member known as Wonder Man. Since neither of those characters exists, and the origin of Ultron has changed, it is likely the construction of both Ultron and The Vision will come from Tony Stark’s technology. Since Bettany also voices Stark’s computer A.I. assistant, that makes even more sense.
Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver
The next two Avengers introduced in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” are twin siblings Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch. These are two mutants in the Marvel universe, and Quicksilver is also appearing in this year’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” However, since Fox owns the rights to mutants, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” can’t call them that and also can’t refer to the fact that they are the children of Magneto. Their origins are mysterious, although HYDRA is part of their introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Those three are definitely appearing in the next Avengers movie. Other options are heroes already introduced, such as The Falcon and War Machine, as well as the possibility of The Winter Solder making an appearance as well. A big rumor for a new hero is Carol Danvers. In the comics, she was a SHIELD agent, but later became the superhero Captain Marvel. There have been rumors that a Captain Marvel movie could be coming, so seeing her appear in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as her pre-superhero self is always a possibility.
