The Socrates Sculpture park in Long Island City has rotating art installations, a beach, and plenty of grass and trees. There’s usually vendors who sell hot dogs and ice cream, and there’s a farmer’s market.
The Brooklyn Bridge park in Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights has the large attraction filled Pier 6 Playground, including Jane’s Carousel. You may need to get a permit for 20 people or more, and it’s possible to reserve the picnic tables as well.
Riverbank State Park in Harlem is a 28 acre, multi-level park, located 69 feet above the Hudson river. It has a skating rink, indoor and outdoor pools, playgrounds, and incredible views of the George Washington bridge and New Jersey.
