When I decided to go into business for myself, it was pretty scary. I wondered if I was prepared for what was to come. Would I make money at it or would I fail. I figured the only way to get these answers was to put my best foot forward and give it a try.
I had done Avon from home before; I figured what I had decided to do couldn’t be any harder than that. So I set forth to starting this new chapter in my life. First, I had to decide exactly what I wanted to do and what I needed to do in order to start this business. A good friend of mine owns her own business. I spoke with her about what it was she did to become an Independent Designer for her company. She not only explained what I needed to do but also offered encouraging words to lift me up. It was those words that propelled me to become an Independent Designer for Origami Owl. That is where my business began.
I am now an Independent Designer for Origami Owl. It’s been fun and intense at the same time. You have to be your own best sales person which is truly not an easy task. You have to put yourself out there for rejection and at the same time stay positive. Have faith in yourself. If you are able to do all that then you will succeed and your business will be on its way.
You will have good and bad days but they will pay off in the end. For me I choose a business that works well for me. I design Living Lockets, the clients choose the charms from a vast collection that they like and I get to design the necklace for them. Wear your own out in town so other people can see exactly what it will look like. It will just be the way they want it. I have 4 different ones I wear all the time so it gives your future clients a ton of options to choose from for themselves.
I love to have home parties with friends and family. It is a great way to bring in new clients and friends. Invite other friends to help build your business. My best advice to someone who is considering opening their own business would be: have faith in yourself and in your product. Without faith you will not go as far as you desire. When I started with Avon I had my doubts going into it and sure enough it was a major FLOP. I went into Origami Owl knowing I could do this and yes it’s been hard but it’s all worth it when you see your clients smile, or when they say “I Love It, Thank You”
The gratitude that my customers show makes it all worthwhile for me. It shows me that the hard work and determination can be seen and felt by others. Would I do it again you ask, Yes, I sure would.
